Volotea's winter flight reductions in France are drawing complaints from passengers over refunds and replacement trips, Anadolu Agency reported in an article published Oct. 26.
Cirium data cited by Anadolu Agency show the Spanish airline removed more than 10% of its planned French capacity for November through February.
UFC Que Choisir, a consumer group, reported that some passengers struggled to arrange replacement journeys following cancellations. The group also reported complaints about delays in receiving refunds.
Volotea said it was processing refunds within seven days, according to Anadolu Agency. The carrier also said it would review requests to recover alternative travel costs individually.
Anadolu Agency described the schedule changes amid rising jet-fuel prices and financial pressure at Volotea. It cited BFMTV for information on the airline's pandemic-era debt.
Volotea also plans to reduce its fleet from 44 aircraft to about 30 to 35, Anadolu Agency reported. The plan would give more weight to larger planes to raise revenue per seat.
Bloomberg had earlier reported that Volotea was restructuring, a development EconoTimes noted in its coverage of European airline consolidation.
