Voronezh Oblast Gov. Aleksandr Gusev said air defenses were responding to a drone attack early Monday and told residents to shelter, as reports described fires in the Russian city.

At 11:21 p.m. ET Sunday (6:21 a.m. Monday in Moscow), Gusev urged people to go indoors and keep away from windows. About an hour earlier, Exilenova+ reported explosions and a fire near Chizhov Gallery at 10:20 p.m. ET Sunday (5:20 a.m. Monday in Moscow), followed by reports of fires elsewhere in Voronezh.

ASTRA said footage showed what appeared to be a drone detonating at the complex. The Kyiv Independent described Chizhov Gallery as a 25-story business center in central Voronezh. ASTRA also reported fires near apartment buildings based on eyewitness photos and videos, and said some residents told the outlet they had not heard air-raid sirens.

The accounts did not establish that Chizhov Gallery was hit or confirm a casualty toll. No damage assessment had been confirmed in the reports available at the time.
