Vortex Companies promoted Dan Watson to executive vice president of Vortex International and named James Sargeant to lead UK and Ireland services amid a push to integrate its international operations.
Watson will coordinate international strategy and integration, with a remit covering the UK, Europe and emerging markets, Vortex said. Sargeant’s full title is senior vice president and managing director of services in the UK and Ireland. He will oversee the regional business, including operating performance, business development, installation and rehabilitation work.
Vortex said the appointments reflect its growing presence in the UK and Europe and its aim to bring international operations together while expanding services and capabilities to meet market demand. CEO Mike Vellano said, “Our vision for Vortex has always extended beyond the markets we serve today.” Sargeant said his priority would be to “build on that foundation.”
Watson had been managing director of McAllister before Vortex promoted him in July 2025 to senior vice president and managing director of Vortex International. The company said then that his responsibilities included strategy and operations in Europe and the UK. Vortex has described its international expansion since 2019 as involving the establishment of Vortex Europe and acquisitions including Fleer-Tech GmbH, ETECAS UV Technology, Lining Division Ltd. and McAllister Group.
Vortex had separately announced a deal for the operating business and assets of UK contractor Torrent Drainage Services Limited in a release dated Sept. 30. The company said the acquisition would add field resources and technical capabilities at McAllister. The company says it has more than 65 locations worldwide.
The personnel announcement carries an Oct. 16 dateline, while Vortex’s webpage labels it Oct. 15. The timing of Sargeant’s appointment is also not established: Trenchless Works described him as a recent appointee in a Sept. 28 interview, before Vortex’s announcement. Vortex’s release gives no effective date.
