Residents from Russian-occupied Oleshky crossed into Ukrainian-controlled territory on Oct. 31, and the World Food Programme (WFP) says more than 400 are receiving food aid after months of food and medical-supply shortages.

WFP said many evacuees had reached medical facilities by Oct. 31. Local partner Iskra Dobra was serving hot meals under an initial two-week program funded by the United States.

Euronews reported on Nov. 5 that prices at informal markets were unaffordable. A 70-year-old man told the outlet residents had eaten weeds, wheat and poultry feed.

Ukraine's Ombudsman's Office said residents crossed from Belarus during a locally agreed ceasefire, but did not give a total. The WFP figure counts people receiving assistance, not everyone who left.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said team-level trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the United States and Russia were expected Nov. 10–11. He did not say whether Oleshky would be discussed.
