IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 17, 2016 -- WNC, a national investor in real estate and community development initiatives, announced today that WNC Chairman Will Cooper Sr. and Chief Executive Officer Will Cooper Jr. presented nine members of Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties with the Defender of Housing award on behalf of the National Association of Home Builders’ BUILD-PAC.
The award, presented to long-term champions of the U.S. housing industry, was presented to: Representatives Ken Calvert (R-CA); Paul Cook (R-CA); Duncan Hunter (R-CA); Darrell Issa (R-CA); Ed Royce (R-CA), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and senior member of the Financial Services Committee; Linda Sanchez (D-CA); Norma Torres (D-CA); Maxine Waters (D-CA), ranking member of the Financial Services Committee; and Mimi Walters (R-CA).
“We couldn’t be more pleased and honored to present these nine congressional leaders with the Defender of Housing Award,” said Cooper Jr. “We strongly believe in the need to protect our nation’s housing, especially affordable housing, and are grateful to the strong support and vocal voice these representatives provide to our industry and to our nation.”
BUILD-PAC is the NAHB’s national political action committee formed to help elect pro-housing candidates to congress in order to defend housing and the home building industry, guard against harmful regulations and protect industry businesses. The Coopers serve as trustees of BUILD-PAC.
