The confirmed match lineup for the WWE SummerSlam 2019 has Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar’s continuing rivalry on the headline. However, fans are on the edge of their seats as Rollins health status is still unknown after getting brutally attacked by Lesnar on Monday.
WWE SummerSlam 2019: Rollins injury cancels fight with Lesnar?
Rollins was part of the WWE Raw’s Reunion event on Monday where he faced AJ Styles. But his biggest appearance that night was not that actual match. Lesnar later appeared to pummel the already injured Rollins with several F-5s while on an unsettled stretcher. Rollins was seen spitting blood before taken away by an ambulance. Now fans are wondering if he can still make it to WWE SummerSlam 2019 as planned.
There is no definitive update yet regarding Rollins’s injury as of this writing. WWE reported that Lesnar’s rival would undergo several medical evaluations. However, in a follow-up report, the entertainment company revealed that the wrestler's team requested to keep all injury updates out of the public.
Rollins and Lesnar are set to battle it out once again at the WWE SummerSlam 2019 with the WWE Universal Championship on the line. The upcoming fight follows their match at WrestleMania 35 last April at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey where Rollins won in only 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Lesnar’s attack on Rollins was not the original plan?
Avid fans of WWE surely understand that Lesnar’s sudden appearance on Monday was a promotional stunt to build more hype around his fight with Rollins on WWE SummerSlam 2019. But Pro Sports Extra reporter Brad Shepard tweeted on Wednesday that WWE had a different original plan for Lesnar’s attack. A WWE source said Lesnar was supposed to execute his signature F-5 takedowns one each while Rollins is in the ring and on the commentators’ table. But Paul Heyman reportedly suggested making it more brutal while Rollins agreed to “those rough chair spots.” Lesnar currently holds the Universal Champion belt after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract in July.
According to a source in #WWE, Seth Rollins was originally supposed to take an F-5 in the ring, and then one through the announcers table. The decision to up the ante was made by Paul Heyman, with Seth agreeing to those rough chair spots, of course. #WWE #RAW
