Weis Markets, Inc. reported a 31.4% increase in third-quarter profit as fuel helped lift revenue, although comparable-store sales excluding fuel fell at the U.S. grocery chain.

Revenue rose 3% to $1.279 billion from $1.242 billion in the 13 weeks ended Sept. 26, 2026. Comparable-store sales increased 1.3% overall but declined 1.2% without fuel. Weis cited higher fuel prices, more fuel sold and sales from new stores as contributors to the revenue gain.

The company estimated that Medicare drug-pricing provisions reduced quarterly pharmacy sales by about $14.56 million, shaving about 1.2 percentage points from revenue growth. Weis also pointed to lower egg prices and weaker produce demand during a Cyclospora outbreak.

Net income reached $22.21 million, or $0.90 per share, compared with a restated $16.90 million, or $0.69 per share, a year earlier. Operating income increased to $28.51 million from $20.57 million.

The profit comparison reflects a revision to the 2025 results. In its annual filing, Weis reduced net income for that quarter from the originally reported $18.23 million after identifying overstated inventory at a meat product manufacturing plant.

Gross margin widened to 25.5% from 24.8%. Weis said less store inventory shrink and lower costs in its internal supply chain contributed to the improvement. Chairman, President and CEO Jonathan H. Weis said “customers remained cautious with their spending” and continued to seek value.

For the 39 weeks ended Sept. 26, revenue rose 4.1% to $3.810 billion, while net income increased 18.1% to $72.92 million. Weis operates 201 stores across seven U.S. states.

The board declared a dividend of $0.34 per share, payable Nov. 23 to shareholders of record Nov. 9.
