Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said “making history is not the assignment” in a CBS News election-night interview about wins by other Black candidates in governor races, as the Associated Press called Moore’s reelection Tuesday.
CBS described Moore as projected to win another term when he joined its coverage to discuss gubernatorial races around the country. The AP called his reelection Tuesday, as EconoTimes previously reported on wins by Moore and other Democratic governors.
In Wisconsin, the AP called the race for Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who is set to become the state’s first Black governor. Crowley defeated Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany on Nov. 3, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage, which also said household costs and job creation were central to his campaign, citing NPR.
In Florida, The Guardian reported that Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds defeated former U.S. Rep. David Jolly. The outlet said Donalds’ victory would make him Florida’s first Black governor.
