The White House reported 1,296 arrests of members of Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua between Jan. 20, 2025, and Oct. 8, 2026, in its campaign against transnational crime.

An Oct. 15 release said the tally came from task-force records and had first been disclosed to the Washington Examiner. The White House also reported that nearly 350 gang members and associates were charged with federal crimes.

The release quoted a Washington Examiner account that attributed the task forces’ 2025 creation to a joint effort by the White House, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Justice (DOJ). The account said the units were intended to target criminal networks and terrorist organizations in U.S. communities, including Tren de Aragua.

The White House said the operation was helping lower violent crime nationwide and described it as the most extensive federal effort against transnational crime in U.S. history.
