France 24’s report on hard-left presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon examines the support he has among young French people and the divisions his backing of youth protests has deepened.

Issued Nov. 6, the video included interviews with young people who support Mélenchon, conducted by Gabrielle Nadler. France 24 placed their views alongside demonstrations underway in France before the presidential election and said the candidate’s public support for the protests has widened disagreements over his political role.

The French government has scheduled the first round for April 18, 2027, followed by a second round on May 2, according to the published election calendar.
