Tom’s experience expands the scope of the firm’s real estate capabilities in North Carolina, as he joins a team, which includes partners Wyatt Booth, Robby Lawson, Ron Rogers and Uel Whitsett, that assists clients with development, finance, land use, zoning and regulatory matters; leasing; and commercial transactions.
“Tom is a great fit for our real estate team here in Raleigh,” Carolinas Managing Partner David Paulson said. “His experience speaks for itself, and he joins a great group of lawyers who help clients manage, lease, acquire, sell, finance and develop their real estate portfolios.”
In addition, he adds to the firm’s already strong land use depth in several markets in Virginia, which includes Valerie Long leading the firm’s efforts in Charlottesville; Preston Lloyd leading the firm’s efforts in Richmond; and Grady Palmer leading the firm’s efforts in Hampton Roads.
“Because of the depth of our real estate and land use practices across several regions, we’re able to help businesses in either state throughout the real estate development process,” Finance & Real Estate Section Chair John Mercer said. “With Tom’s experience, we can provide particular value to companies looking to expand in either state, whether it’s a North Carolina company looking to expand into Virginia or vice versa.”
Tom is listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers for real estate law (2017-present), and he is listed as a leading individual in real estate law by Chambers USA (2014-present). In 2014, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly recognized him as a “Leader in the Law.” He earned both his Juris Doctor degree and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina.
