Claude Wiseler, president of Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies, said he sees scope for defense-policy partnerships with Türkiye in communication and information sharing as the NATO allies mark 80 years of diplomatic ties.
At an Oct. 22 joint news conference in Ankara with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, Wiseler linked the need to renew momentum in bilateral relations to the current geopolitical situation. He did not announce a specific defense project or agreement.
In a separate meeting, Fuat Oktay, chair of Türkiye’s parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, raised possible cooperation in finance and financial technology, logistics, space, research and development, energy, high-tech startups and the defense industry, Anadolu Agency reported.
Luxembourg’s Embassy in Ankara dates diplomatic relations to July 1946. Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry also says the relationship was established in 1946 and identifies both countries as NATO allies. The reported remarks outlined potential areas for cooperation; they did not announce a formal agreement.
