Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia said she would take the post again if President Donald Trump asked, while leaving her next role unidentified after a five-day tenure.
In a Tuesday, Oct. 27, interview on Newsmax’s Finnerty, host Rob Finnerty asked about her plans. Zacharia said she was unsure whether she wanted her old job back, but would accept it if Trump asked. “I would take it, Rob,” she said. She also said she would take another job working with the president and added that “there’s a lot of exciting things ahead.”
Hindustan Times reported that Zacharia answered yes when Finnerty asked whether she had something lined up, but did not give details.
Trump announced Zacharia’s appointment on Truth Social on Oct. 9, naming her as Karoline Leavitt’s successor and describing her as a communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group. The White House identified her as press secretary in an Oct. 13 release about her first briefing.
The Associated Press and CBS News reported that Zacharia left the post after five days. CBS, citing officials, reported that she was being removed; AP cited a person familiar with the matter who described her as transitioning out. AP also reported that the White House said her next role would be announced later.
