A Starlink terminal movement rule is impeding some Ukrainian drone interceptions and supply deliveries to military positions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday, describing effects on both air defense and battlefield logistics.
Speaking in Brussels, Zelenskyy said active Starlink terminals faced a 70 km/h movement ceiling. He said the rule hindered attempts to intercept some Russian Shahed drones and deliveries of food and water by drone.
Defense technology adviser Serhii Beskrestnov separately put the Starshield terminal limit at 160 km/h. The remarks do not show whether the two limits apply to different dates, terminals or operating conditions, so the figures are not directly comparable. They describe the movement speed of terminals in use, not the speed of their internet connections.
SpaceX positions Starshield for government work, drawing on technology developed for its Starlink network. The company offers Starlink to consumers and businesses.
Beskrestnov said Ukraine was discussing lifting the Starshield limit with SpaceX and the Pentagon. EconoTimes previously reported on Ukrainian drone missions affected by the Starshield cap. No decision date was announced.
