David Craig

Fellow at the Peabody Media Center and Clinical Assistant Professor of Communication, University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism

In the Master of Communication Management program, David Craig teaches multiple courses in global and national, traditional, digital and social media industries, management and practice. His courses include Global Hollywood, Visual Storytelling in film, TV, and online, media industries and management, transmedia production and marketing and social media entertainment.

Along with distinguished media scholar Stuart Cunningham, Craig is engaged in a global, multiyear research initiative mapping the new screen ecology of social media entertainment. Their research examines the technological, economic and regulatory conditions of social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, Vine, Instagram, Snapchat, and more) and social media companies (e.g., multi-channel companies like Fullscreen, Maker, and Stylehaul, talent and advertising agencies, and third party data companies). In addition, they are identifying the creative and entrepreneurial practices engaged by online content creators who are incubating their own personality-driven media brands off these social media platforms.

Craig is also a multiple Emmy Award-nominated producer and former programming executive at A&E and Lifetime Television. Over the past three decades, he has produced over 30 projects, including 100+ hours of television, that included films, television movies, mini-series, and drama series, web series, graphic novels and stage productions.
