Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at the South African Research Chair in International Law (SARCIL), University of Johannesburg Dr Cristiano d’Orsi is a Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at the South African Research Chair in International Law (SARCIL), University of Johannesburg. Cristiano is an Italian citizen and a South African permanent resident. He was previously a Research Fellow and Lecturer at the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria in South Africa. He holds a PhD in International Relations (International Law) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. His research interests include the legal protection of asylum-seekers, refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons in Africa, African human rights law, and, more broadly, the development of international law in Africa. Cristiano currently lectures in these areas and he regularly delivers presentations at international conferences. Cristiano is the author of about 30 articles and chapters in books (in English and French), and of a monograph: “Asylum-Seeker and Refugee Protection in sub-Saharan Africa: the Peregrination of a Persecuted Human Being in Search of a Safe Haven” (London/New York: Routledge, 2015).
