Assistant Professor , University of Iowa

Assistant Professor , University of Iowa Dr. Adeagbo is an applied social scientist with extensive research experience working collaboratively with local and international institutions on HIV-related research in the United States, South Africa, Nigeria, and most recently, Zambia. He has conducted research with adolescents, youth, and older people. He has explored the impact of class, race, gender, education, violence, substance use, employment status, and other related factors on individual health over time. The guiding principle of his research is to reduce the adverse health and social impact of diseases while advancing population health, especially in resource-constrained settings. His research activities have focused on global health, rural health, stigma reduction interventions, telehealth interventions, HIV treatment and prevention, qualitative research method, sexual and gender minority health, implementation science and evaluation of complex interventions. Assistant Professor of Invertebrate Ecology at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, San José State University

Assistant Professor of Invertebrate Ecology at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, San José State University My research broadly focuses on the movement of food energy (carbon) within and between ecosystems, and on how animals facilitate this movement – especially in the food-starved deep sea. This research has involved studies of deep-sea sponges and octopuses from extinct underwater volcanoes off the coast of California, the unique glass sponge reefs of western Canada, and ‘cheese-bottom’ sponge grounds in the fjords of Norway. I studied biology and chemistry at CSU East Bay, then pursued a master's in marine science through Moss Landing Marine Laboratories via CSU Monterey Bay. I received my PhD in Ecology from the University of Alberta in Canada under the supervision of Dr. Sally Leys. I then completed postdoctoral fellowships studying sponges in the deep north Pacific and oceanography of the North Atlantic with the University of Alberta and Norway’s Institute of Marine Research, then became a postdoctoral fellow studying the ecology and physiology of the sponges of Sur Ridge with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. In 2019 I joined Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and San Jose State University as an assistant professor in invertebrate ecology, where my students and I continue exploring the fascinating lives of invertebrates.

Associate professor, University of South Australia

Associate professor, University of South Australia Akshay Vij is an Associate Professor at UniSA Business. He has previously worked as lecturer and post-doctoral scholar at the University of California (UC) Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2013, also from UC Berkeley. Vij’s research has made significant contributions to the development of statistical methods for the study of human behaviour, and their application to different contexts, such as transport, urban and regional development, and labour markets. Since his move to Australia in 2015, Vij has collaborated extensively with industry and government partners on research grants totalling roughly $4.5 million to undertake research that has addressed major practical challenges facing these different sectors.

Assistant Professor, Biology, University of Toronto

Assistant Professor, Biology, University of Toronto I'm an assistant professor at the University of Toronto (same university where I obtained my PhD). My lab studies how mutations affect our genomes and how this affects evolution. I was previously a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Michael Desai at Harvard University, where I developed several synthetic biology tools to interrogate cells and observe evolution at extremely high resolution.
