Barbara Myers

Associate Professor, Auckland University of Technology

Associate Professor, Auckland University of Technology Dr Barbara Myers is an Associate Professor and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Management, HRM, Global Mobility and Careers for AUT’s Department of Management. Barbara has held a number of roles at the University including Associate Dean Academic, Head of Department and Senior Lecturer. Barbara’s research is about work (paid and unpaid) and careers in different contexts (e.g. global mobility, self-initiated expatriation (SIE), organisations and universities) drawing on diverse lenses e.g. (gender, life-course) and predominantly qualitative methodologies and frameworks. An inter-disciplinary approach best informs the research she conducts around the nexus of work and life. Barbara has published in a range of journals including the Journal of World Business, Journal of Global Mobility, Personnel Review, Gender, Work and Organization, International Perspectives on Equality and Diversity, Career Development International and Studies in Higher Education. Barbara also reviews for a wide range of respected journals and conferences at an international and national level. Barbara has a special interest in narrative methodologies not just as a researcher but also as a teacher in a range of courses and programmes that she teaches and supervises on at undergraduate and postgraduate level. There she also draws on personal and organisational story telling to support wider business and commercial strategy, incorporating history and change into the way we look at a changing world of work and how we reflect on and consider career possibilities and change.

Associate Professor of History, Iowa State University

Associate Professor of History, Iowa State University I am a historian of religion, politics, and social movements in Latin America. I received my Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Texas at Austin. I am the author of "Guatemala’s Catholic Revolution," a book that chronicles the resurgence of Catholicism among Maya communities, employing a transnational approach that incorporates elite and popular notions of religiosity by drawing on documents housed in Guatemala, the United States, and the Vatican. It traces the emergence of progressive Catholic communities in Guatemala and beyond during the Cold War. My current research examines how Maya communities in rural, civil war-torn Guatemala developed a religious and political identity that drove the formation of several popular organizations. These groups became a nucleus for radical forms of activism, solidarity, and mobilization among urban and rural peoples. My articles and book chapters have appeared in several top-rated publications, including "The Americas," "The Oxford Handbook of Central American History," and "The Cambridge History of Religion in Latin America." My research and training have been funded by various sources, including the Social Science Research Council, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and the Center for the Excellence of the Arts and Humanities at Iowa State University.

Research Associate in Water and Environmental Engineering, Queensland University of Technology

Research Associate in Water and Environmental Engineering, Queensland University of Technology I aspire to ensure access to adequate and safe water for ever-increasing populations. The fundamental purpose of my research is safeguarding water resources by mitigating water pollution. As such, I create knowledge and mathematical tools to understand the terrestrial processes that degrade water resources, essential for designing effective pollution mitigation measures. I possess expertise and experience in applying physically-based and statistical modelling techniques in multiple computing platforms together with locally-sourced field data and data extracted from global databases to understand mechanisms of hydrological and pollution processes. In particular, I have successfully applied Bayesian Networks (BNs) and geospatial analysis to understand complex non-linear relationships among variables that determine pollutant behaviours in water environments. My long-term research investigates how environmental changes and urbanisation influence degradation of water resources.
