Professor and Co-Program Director, Disease Elimination, Burnet Institute Professor Heidi Drummer is Program Director for Disease Elimination and co-Head of the Viral Entry and Vaccines research group at Burnet Institute. In 2021, she was appointed as Scientific Director of the Burnet Diagnostics Initiative, a new Burnet Initiative to progress diagnostics through to human health solutions. She also leads the Hepatitis C Vaccine development stream of the Burnet Vaccine Initiative. Heidi is an inventor on numerous granted patents and is internationally recognised as a leader in viral glycoprotein structure and function. She has developed multiple point of care diagnostic assays to measure immunity to COVID-19 and established clinical studies to examine immune response generated by SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Heidi has extensive experience in industry engagement and commercialisation of diagnostic assays and the translation of vaccines through pre-clinical studies into clinical trials.
Lecturer in Business Strategy, Coventry University Dr. Hossein Zarei is Lecturer in Business Strategy at School of Strategy & Leadership, Coventry University. His research results have been published in top supply chain and business management outlets and have been highly cited by other researchers. He has been collaborating with prestigious humanitarian organizations such as International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) as the project leader for several research and consultancy projects since 2015.
Associate Professor in Public Health, Torrens University Australia Associate Professor Hannah is a senior academic educator of Public Health Department, and a researcher at Centre for Healthy Sustainable Development (CHSD). Hannah has a background in pharmacy practice, health service management, community health and primary health care. Her expertise covering mixed methods study, co-design, data correlation, systematic review and meta-analysis. Her research projects focus on inequities, inequality and accessibility among disadvantage population specially culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) population; health service; prevention and self-care management; digital health innovation; and climate change. Her recent study has established evidence of the delay in seeking medical care for cardiac symptoms among ethnic groups globally and nationally which has assisted researchers and clinicians to be more aware and better understand ethnic differences in health behaviour and the need of cultural competence in healthcare system. Hannah has worked collaboratively with the Public Health Information Development Unit (PHIDU) in establishing data map correlating clinical data and population health areas (SA) which can be a useful tool for further investigation, and serve as a resource for education. Hannah currently working with multidisciplinary team involving researchers, industry partners and consumers on digital innovation projects to improve accessibility to health service and empower disadvantaged populations nationally and internationally.
Senior Research Officer, James Cook University I am an early-career researcher interested in the interactions between corals and macroalgae, and the possibility to manipulate these interactions in the context of reef restoration and rehabilitation. Using a mixed-methods approach, I investigate the interactions between reef taxa from the cellular to the ecosystem level. My work uses a range of techniques, including molecular biology and genomics, microbial ecology, physiology, macro-ecology, field- and lab-based experiments to understand the relationships between species. Recent work incorporates significant outreach and engagement through citizen science involvement in reef restoration research. Prior to working in science, I had a career in the fine arts and fashion design, so I am passionate about communicating science and encouraging people with non-traditional academic pathways to pursue careers in science. I maintain an interest in the arts through a side-hustle making scientific illustrations.
