Professor of Phonetics, Lund University

Professor of Phonetics, Lund University I investigate how the brain processes speech (neurolinguistics). I lead projects with a consolidation grant from VR and grants from KAW and MAW, using high resolution magnetic resonanance imaging (MRI) to explore to what extent speech perception can be integrated into general auditory perception. As a Wallenberg Academy Fellow and in a project from MAW, I have also lead the work of tracing how speech melody is used to predict and facilitate processing of grammatical structure. Aids have also been developed for second language learning of the speech melody-grammar association. I have previously led a research project exploring how time-based decay of word forms in short-term memory influence sentence processing. I have also used Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) to investigate how words’ degree of abstractness affect associations in speakers with Broca’s aphasia.

Senior Lecturer in Biblical and Religious Studies, University of Sheffield

Senior Lecturer in Biblical and Religious Studies, University of Sheffield I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield, where I am the Director of the Sheffield Centre for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies. In addition, I am editor in chief of the open-access Journal for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies. I have published numerous books and articles on early Christianity, early Judaism, and biblical texts. Most recently, I published a co-authored text book with Sara Parks and Shayna Sheinfeld titled Jewish and Christian Women in the Ancient Mediterranean (Routledge 2022). I have two previous mongraphs. Food and Transformation in Ancient Mediterranean Literature (SBL, 2019) defines a genre of transformative ingestion called hierophagy. I use sensory analysis to explore how performative consumption brings about access to other worlds in ancient Mediterranean narratives. My first book, My Flesh is Meat Indeed (Fortress; 2015), evaluates how John 6:51c–58 contributes to the gospel’s presentation of Jesus as divine in light of Hellenistic attitudes about sacrifice, divinity, and the consumption of human flesh. Soon to be published are two co-edited volumes on Judeophobia and the New Testament (Eerdmans 2025) and on Good Omens and the Bible (Sheffield Phoenix 2025).

Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Clemson University

Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Clemson University I am an Astrophysicist with strong interests in astro-particle physics and cosmology. My interests lie in the evolution of super-massive black holes and galaxies, the generation of truly diffuse backgrounds (from infrared to gamma rays), high-energy transients and high-energy sources in general. Recently I turned my attention to the evolution of the extragalactic background light and the role of the first stars during the epoch of re-ionization. I work with a number of instruments and telescopes both from the ground and in space, but my all-time favorites are the NASA missions Fermi, Swift, and NuSTAR.
