Pallavi Banerjee

Associate Professor of Sociology and University of Calgary Research Excellence Chair, University of Calgary Pallavi Banerjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and a University of Calgary, Research Excellence Chair. Her research is situated at the intersections of immigration, gender, families, unpaid and paid labour, intersectionality, and transnationalism. She is the author of the award-winning book The Opportunity Trap: High-Skilled Workers, Indian Families and the Failures of Dependent-Visa Policy published in March 2022 by New York University Press. Her other award-winning research has been published in many peer-reviewed journals including the American Behavioral Scientist, Gender & Society, Contexts, Canadian Ethnic Studies, Sociological Forum, Gender, Work and Organization, Women, Gender and Families of Color among others. She is the co-founder, and lead researcher of the Youth and Anti-Racism Integration (YARI) Collective - a critical intersectional, anti-racist collaboration that brings together researchers from the University of Calgary, newcomer youth of colour, community partners from four Calgary-based resettlement agencies, and creative professionals. She directs the Critical Gender, Intersectionality and Migration Research Group at the University of Calgary, and her research is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Pratim Sengupta

Professor, Learning Sciences and STEM Education, University of Calgary

Professor, Learning Sciences and STEM Education, University of Calgary Dr. Pratim Sengupta is a Professor of Learning Sciences and STEM education at the University of Calgary. He is a critical scholar of computing and STEM education. He has served as the Research Chair of STEM education at the University of Calgary, and received a CAREER Award from the US National Science Foundation for his research on integrating computational modelling in K-12 STEM classrooms.

Peter Crank

Assistant Professor of Geography, University of Waterloo

Assistant Professor of Geography, University of Waterloo Peter Crank is an urban climatologist and geographer focused on helping people by improving thermal comfort, mental wellbeing, and education of the public through atmospheric measurements, statistical, and numerical modeling. My experiences in project management, scientific writing, and science communication have resulted in multiple publications via peer-reviewed research and were achieved through successful research grant support writing. My science communication skills have also been leveraged in developing students in university settings by managing classrooms of various sizes and purposes, from labs to lectures, introductory courses to graduate level seminars.

Princess Sibanda

Postdoctoral researcher, University of Fort Hare A postdoctoral fellow under the SARChI Chair: Sexualities, Gender and Queer Studies at the University of Fort Hare, I am a teacher, writer and scholar activist with interests in participatory performance forms and their intersections with race, gender and sexualities in Africa. In 2018, I was awarded the Canon Collins Scholars Scholar award as well as a community engagement award (UKZN) in recognition of my scholar-artivist work.

Associate Professor, University of Sydney Pierre Rognon is Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, the University of Sydney. His research focuses of the mechanical behaviour of granular matter such as sands, soils, ores and grains and its many applications in geomechanics and engineering.
