GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 08, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- eRAD, a division of RadNet, Inc., and a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, announced today that Unity Medical and Surgical Hospital has deployed eRAD PACS as a cloud-based solution.
Unity Medical and Surgical Hospital (UMSH) is a 29-bed inpatient/outpatient surgical hospital that focuses on surgeries and diagnostic imaging. UMSH serves the Michiana area in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan.
In lieu of an expensive upgrade to a legacy system, UMSH took the opportunity to implement a more flexible PACS system on their virtual environment. UMSH found that eRAD’s cloud technology delivered the benefits necessary for their busy, multi-specialty facility.
“We can customize the way the system works, but we don’t have to worry about infrastructure costs and management,” said Greg Hord, Radiology Director of UMSH. “A great example of the simplicity is the migration. We have about 23,000 procedures to migrate, but the cloud technology allows us to access the data in real-time during migration. That’s key—because it enables us to deliver healthcare uninterrupted. The data isn’t caught somewhere, and we aren’t forced to wait for technology to keep clinical operations flowing. We’re very happy with the solution.”
UMSH is a physician-owned hospital, with specialists in orthopedic, ophthalmology, pain management, and spine surgery. eRAD enables secure image uploading and scanned document sharing across the web—along with data integrity—to facilitate communication and a seamless workflow between UMSH and its outside reading practice.
Seth Koeppel, Senior VP of Sales at eRAD, said, “eRAD’s cloud-based PACS allows an enterprise to focus on patient care while we take care of the imaging infrastructure. With customers like UMSH, it just makes sense to have a set-up based on actual utilization—the uptime, security, and responsiveness are all there. We’re pleased to be able to offer solutions that flex to meet our customers’ needs.”
