itBit, a New York-based bitcoin exchange, has announced that it was one of the three bidders in the third US Marshals Service (USMS) bitcoin auction to a win a bid. The disclosure comes following the announcement of the successful auction of the 50,000 BTC by the government agency earlier this month.
itBit reported that it secured 3,000 BTC (worth around $888,000 at press time), the smallest amount among the three winners.
The identities of other two winners have not been publicized yet, and have won 27,000 BTC ($7.9m) and 20,000 BTC ($5.9m) during the auction, respectively.
