Dallas, Texas, March 14, 2018 -- 5miles, one of the country's largest mobile marketplaces, is celebrating its third anniversary with a wave of strategic brand partnerships and marketplace enhancements for its more than 13 million registered users. Designed to amplify and improve 5miles' web experience, the company has revamped 5miles.com so that the site now functions fully with features previously available solely on its app. This move is intended to bring parity to the 5miles mobile and online user experience.

On the heels of a major, multi-year deal with billionaire entrepreneur, Mark Cuban, and the Dallas Mavericks, 5miles also is partnering with:
- Petfinder, the largest pet adoption website
- The Salvation Army U.S.A., namely the Family Stores & Donation Centers in its southern territory
Driven in part by these partnerships, 5miles has introduced a new channel, Community, where 5miles users can access things like real-time pet adoption listings, nearby yard and estate sales, and volunteer event opportunities in their community. Within this channel as well users soon will find a dedicated "virtual storefront" of items for sale at Salvation Army stores nationwide.
"Community and user experience are at the heart of our marketplace," Dr. Lucas Lu, 5miles' founder and C.E.O., said. "With every feature, partnership and innovation, such as cryptocurrency integration, we're aiming to create new, easier, safer ways for buyers and sellers to transact and better connect—how they want, where they want."
One of the most popular shopping apps on both Android and iOS devices, 5miles has acquired millions of new users and now facilitates hundreds of millions of dollars in transactions every month. The app is the first of its kind to offer users a full-category, hyper-local marketplace experience with access to various goods as well as services, housing and jobs: real items from real people in real time—all within five miles.
As part of and to aid in 5miles' expansion, Maggie Guan joined 5miles this month as the company's new in-house general counsel. Guan brings 15 years of experience with leading law firms and investments banks in both the U.S. and the U.K. This includes advising on private equity transactions and offerings, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory and compliance matters in jurisdictions such as Hong Kong and New York. She also will serve as a legal advisor to CyberMiles, a Hong Kong-based nonprofit foundation that is 5miles' strategic partner in the development and deployment of a new blockchain network designed and optimized for e-commerce.
The first real-world implementation of blockchain technology in the peer-to-peer marketplace space will be released this fall. Spearheading the commercialization of this technology will be 5miles and subsequent adopters. With nearly $100 million in funding raised to date, 5miles is poised for exponential growth and market penetration in 2018.
