MUNICH, Germany, Feb. 17, 2016 -- ADVA Optical Networking today launched Ensemble, a strategic division and product suite focused purely on network functions virtualization (NFV). The division combines the software engineering capabilities of ADVA Optical Networking and the award-winning NFV portfolio of its most recent acquisition - Overture. The ADVA Ensemble solution presents communication service providers (CSPs) with the industry's most comprehensive NFV product suite available. This means that CSPs have an incredible range of choice as to how they implement NFV - choice of hardware platforms, choice of software vendors and choice of deployment locations. ADVA Optical Networking will showcase the ADVA Ensemble product suite at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 22 until February 25, 2016.
"What we're announcing here isn't simply a new division or a combined product suite. It's our stake in the NFV landscape - a signal to our customers and to the industry that we're making something special," said Brian Protiva, CEO, ADVA Optical Networking. "Even at this early stage of the ADVA Ensemble solution, it's clear we can now offer our customers something no one else in the industry can - freedom of choice. However they want to implement NFV, however they want to develop their network - we can do it. Our Ensemble software architecture and our open hardware solutions enable our customers to select best-of-breed elements of our portfolio or tightly integrated end-to-end solutions. Our customers see this as truly compelling. When we said we were creating an NFV powerhouse with our Overture acquisition, we meant it. The ADVA Ensemble product suite is the first big step in our journey."
The ADVA Ensemble solution is built upon an award-winning and already deployed customer product set. This is something that very few in the NFV market can offer. While other vendors continue to mature their fledgling technologies, the ADVA Ensemble product suite has an advanced mixture of tried and tested pure-play virtualization hardware and software. The Ensemble team is led by James Buchanan as general manager, Prayson Pate, Overture co-founder, as CTO, and Chris Swan as head of business development. Each of these individuals has already had considerable success at driving NFV strategies and product roadmaps forward. Collectively, they will harness their experience to ensure that the ADVA Ensemble solution is at the core of NFV innovation and a key player in the industry. The management group will be supported by a global team of NFV developers and engineers.
"Ensemble is an ideal name for our new division because it takes the best of ADVA Optical Networking and Overture's NFV technology and talent and meshes them into one unified whole," commented Prayson Pate, CTO, Ensemble Division. "As a combined force, we present the industry with something unique - complete choice. Together, our teams have found incredible synergies and this has led to an incredible product set. It goes beyond hardware and software though. Ultimately it's about the people behind the products and our combined engineering force is simply unmatched. We have more NFV knowledge and talent than any other vendor in the market - something our customers already value and appreciate. They know that the ADVA Ensemble team will help them every step of their journey to seizing NFV's full potential."
