'Better Call Saul' Season 2 Episode 5 Recap:

The hit TV series ‘Better Call Saul’ never really disappoints as it kept dishing out intense stories after stories that will make you love and hate every character in the show. In this week’s episode, we are treated with the perspective of Chuck and somehow eased our hatred towards him as they show to us his side of the story. So without further ado, here is a recap of episode 5 titled “Rebecca”.

This week’s title is actually the name of Chuck’s estranged wife who everyone is wondering where she is at the moment. She is played by Ann Cusack and in the episode we see the playful banter between the husband and wife through flashbacks.

As she is busy preparing dinner and Chuck replacing the light bulbs, the doorbell rang announcing the arrival of their guest, Jimmy. Jimmy sits down for dinner, the best meal he’s had in a decade. He apologizes for missing the wedding. “Yo-Yo Ma was there,” Chuck says; “Ah, right on,” Jimmy responds. He tells Rebecca about his new job in the Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill mail room. He shares with her lawyer jokes which Chuck thinks is not funny.

After dinner, Chuck and Rebecca lay in bed, a considerable chasm between them. The lighting is cold, a kind of chrome-blue veil over the room. Chuck tries to tell a lawyer joke; Rebecca says, “What? Oh.” She doesn’t laugh.

Apparently, Chuck thinks that it was Jimmy who caused the rift between him and his wife. And it makes the fans develop some sympathy towards him.

Meanwhile back in the present, Jimmy is trying to reconnect with Kim and make amends with her only to be turned down countless times by Kim. Kim isn't interested in his help, telling him to focus on obeying the rules while she works on her own to get out of the doghouse at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill. Her solution included sealing a $250,000 deal with a client.

However, with the progress that she has been making, she is being ostracized by Howard. Jimmy, on the other hand, told her that it was Chuck who is responsible for it. Chuck then arrived in the wee hours and asked her to make two cups of coffee. This confused Kim thinking that Chuck does not approve of her. Only then did Kim knew about the truth and about Jimmy being the liar that he is when he looted his own father’s business.
