'Better Call Saul' Season 5 News: Is This the Series' Final Installment? Plot, Episodes and Filming Details

Better Call Saul

AMC renewed “Better Call Saul” season 5 but there are reports that it will be the last installment. This assumption emerged after showrunner Peter Gould said that he does not have a plan to extend the show longer that “Breaking Bad” which concluded in 2013 with five seasons.

Since “Better Call Saul” is now on its fifth season run, then Gould may be ending the show now. If this will be the series’ finale, it was said that it will feature 20 episodes instead of the normal 10 per season.

“My dearest hope is that we get to finish the story that we started and conclude it in a satisfying way. Peter Gould told Entertainment Weekly. “My dream would be that this is somewhere in the same universe of satisfaction as Breaking Bad was.

He added, “I was so proud to be part of the way we ended Breaking Bad, and that was actually one of the fears of doing this show — that we would tarnish that. Having said that, I think we are closer to the end than to the beginning.”

In any case, fans will be happy to know that filming for “Better Call Saul” season 5 is set to begin soon. As reported by KOB News 4, the cast and crew of the drama will be returning to Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 10. It was further mentioned that the shoot will last for just four months which means it will wrap up in August.

With regards to what will happen in “Better Call Saul” season 5, the showrunner revealed that the viewers will see how Jimmy McGill will transform to Saul Goodman. Gould said that the protagonist will encounter situations where he will be pushed to do things that are illegal. He will be forced to turn a blind eye to misdeeds that the original McGill “will not be able to stomach.”

Lastly, since Jimmy is slowly turning into Saul Goodman, his relationship with Kim Wexler will be affected in a bad way too. They are likely to grow apart as Jimmy become more and more involved in violence and immoral doings while lawyering for the bad people.
