Mitsuki's story arc was finally covered in “Boruto's” last episode, with the white-haired shinobi still missing after leaving Konohagakure to go on a personal quest. “Boruto” episode 73 continues the story, with Team 7's members looking for their missing friend.
“Boruto” Episode 73's title, “The Other Side of The Moon” is particularly apt as Mitsuki's name can be literally translated to Snake Moon, depending on the characters that are used to write his name. Also, Boruto and Sarada will most likely get to know more about their white-haired friend as they begin to understand why Mitsuki left Konohagakure while they look for clues to find him.
“Boruto” Episode 73's official preview trailer shows Team 7's Boruto and Sarada discussing the best way to look for their missing friend. The two end with the conclusion that it would be best to approach Orochimaru about the white snake that Mitsuki has left behind for them.
Fans will remember that Orochimaru is the closest thing that Mitsuki has to a literal parent. Mitsuki is a synthetic human who is a partial clone of the legendary sannin. If there is anyone in “Boruto” Episode 73 who can help them understand Mitsuki's state of mind, or at the very least understand how to track down their friend, it would be the being with a greater understanding of Mitsuki's capabilities.
But fans also know that Orochimaru isn't necessarily a benevolent character. While the sannin has a cordial relationship with Naruto due to Boruto's father watching over his son, Mitsuki, Orochimaru's ambition to learn all of the world's secrets has often put him at odds with Konohagakure.
In addition, Orochimaru also has a habit of testing Mitsuki from time-to-time as the legendary sannin believes in Mitsuki's potential. Boruto and Sarada may find themselves fighting Orochimaru if it turns out that it was all part of the sannin's plan to get Mitsuki to leave Konohagakure, and he will stop at nothing to ensure that Mitsuki is able to reach his full potential.
Fans of the series who are excited to see if Orochimaru will sympathize with Boruto and Sarada and help them look for their missing friend can look forward to “Boruto” Episode 73 airing on Sept. 13. Fans can stream the latest episodes on Crunchyroll.
