Details about the 2022 “Call of Duty” installment, rumored to be the much-awaited sequel to “Modern Warfare,” are already out in the wild days before this year’s “Call of Duty: Vanguard” goes live. New reports suggest that next year’s game could be one of the biggest entries in the series due to the all-new features Activision is planning to introduce.
Leaker @RalphsValve on Twitter reported that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will be quite a different game from the rest of the series because of its several features. The game is rumored to introduce the franchise’s first “moral compass” system. The source said it would be similar to the honor system in “Red Dead Redemption 2,” where players’ decisions could affect how the campaign gameplay and story will move forward and end.
In Tom Henderson’s own report on VGC, the long-time leaker noted the rumored morality system is planned for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2,” but might not be as massively influential to the campaign as RalphsValve suggests. Henderson’s sources reportedly said the new moral compass system would exist in some of the story missions, but it may not be present for the entire campaign.
In the same report, Henderson also said Activision’s plans for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” include a new map for “Warzone” inspired by classic multiplayer arenas in the game. The leaker also said Infinity Ward is working on a “brand new third mode” that will offer a first-in-the-franchise gameplay experience. But Henderson did not elaborate on the mechanics of the all-new game mode.
Going back to RalphsValve’s leaks, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” is reportedly anticipated to be rated for mature audiences only because it will feature “realistic gore.” The game is also expected to include realistic depictions of injured enemies and how players’ characters react when they are hurt in the game.
Wounded enemy combatants will not simply die like in previous “Call of Duty” games. RalphsValve said wounded enemies in “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” will “beg for their lives, insult you, call out for their Mother, hallucinate, gurgle/moan/groan/death rattle, [or convulse]” depending on where players shot them.
