“Darksiders 3” had recently come out to mixed reviews, with THQ Nordic finally giving fans the third installment to the franchise that they have been screaming for. However, a recent leak might have hinted on a new “Darksiders” game that will be announced at E3. Conventional wisdom dictates that it could be the fourth game in the series, but it could also be a reboot if current industry trends hold.
An E3 schedule reveal recently provided fans with some clues as to what they might be able to expect from the developers during the event, Eurogamers reports. One of the items on the itinerary is “Darksiders: Action Adventure Evolved,” which works as an effective announcement of an upcoming game. The only question now is what kind of “Darksiders” game this is going to be.
It’s worth pointing out that this particular event could go multiple ways. While the most obvious would have to be another sequel, one of the more exciting would be the reboot route. Other franchises have been doing this successfully over the past decade, including “Tomb Raider” and “God of War.” Why wouldn’t a “Darksiders” reboot make sense?
As a matter of fact, if there is any franchise that could use a reimaging the most, it would have to be the apocalyptic property of THQ Nordic. The third game was good in many ways, but a lot of players could not get over the nearly cartoonish environment and designs. If “Darksiders” is going to make it as an AAA title in the modern era, it needs to make a cosmetic change.
If the E3 event reveals a “Darksiders” game that has an updated theme with the graphics to back it up, for example, it would be one of the biggest developments during the event. Whatever the case may be, fans will simply have to wait until June 14 to learn more.
