Disney announced sometime back that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars,” said the Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger at the time. “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
According to USA Today, Disney has announced that the Star Wars-themed lands are on the way to both the said locations. Also, a new event – “Season of the Force” is scheduled to start on November 16 at Disneyland, which will feature props from the movies, meet-and-greet with characters and much more.
“With The Force Awakens scheduled for wide release on December 18, it's likely that Disney's Hollywood Studios would launch their Star Wars celebration on or before that date”, USA Today anticipates.
Moreover, fans are quite excited about Millennium Falcon, one of the promised attractions coming to the lands, USA Today said. Orlando Sentinel describes that with over 1,000 LED lights, several buttons, levers and switches “any Star Wars fan smile with nostalgia”. Also, two seats in the cockpit will allow little pilots to trek into hyperspace and pilot the Millennium Falcon.
"We said what kind of Star Wars experience do we want in a kids space," explained Disney Imagineer Danny Handke, the creative design lead for the space, Orlando Sentinel reported. "And decided that, boy, to be on the Millennium Falcon would be really awesome. Can you imagine piloting it, having the little common room with the holo-chess table. And so we started there and we met with our partners at LucasFilm who threw us some great ideas and so it just started kind of building on itself."
