For fans of the long-running modern spin on the “Sherlock Holmes” story, the news that “Elementary” Season 7 will be the last was likely a sad one. However, facts are facts and it is a reality that the CBS show will finally be ending after quite a few years. On that note, there are still a lot of questions that need answering such as whether or not the show was axed.
For the short answer, “Elementary” Season 7 was not canceled by the network. It would appear that everyone involved in the project has known for quite some time as to when it will end. This is encouraging because it means that the news that was recently announced was planned and the events in the show will not be affected.
To be clear, “Elementary” Season 7 will have a proper ending waiting for the fans who not have ended up with quite the frustrating situation had the show been canceled. Had that been the case, the ending would have been rushed and not enough closure could have been provided to those who stuck by this series.
It should also be pointed out that “Elementary” Season 7 being the last season has nothing to do with producer decisions to hurry up and simply end the show. Then again, it can’t be denied either that the ratings for the show have not been good, especially over the last few years. In fact, in terms of CBS programs, this adaptation of the “Sherlock Holmes” saga has some of the grimmest numbers.
This is why “Elementary” Season 7 will be the last the fans will see of their two beloved characters when it premieres next year. The specific date has yet to be announced, but fans might know something before April 2019, so fingers crossed for the viewers.
