MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 05, 2018 -- FogHorn Systems™, a leading developer of edge intelligence software for industrial and commercial Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, today announced its addition to the 2018 Class of ‘Energy Innovation Pioneers’. The Energy Innovation Pioneers program is held annually by IHS Markit in connection with CERAWeek 2018, an annual international gathering of energy industry leaders, experts, government officials and policy makers, as well as executives the technology and financial sectors, taking place March 5 – 9 in Houston, TX.
The Energy Innovation Pioneers program identifies the most innovative new technologies and disruptive business models across the energy spectrum, and its judging criteria includes creativity of solution, feasibility of plan, scalability of technology and quality of leadership team. FogHorn was selected alongside six other energy sector experts and will participate in several activities at Innovation Agora at CERAWeek, a community program focused on transformational technologies impacting the energy future:
- Strategic Dialogue Panel (Agora Studio on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:30 a.m. CT): FogHorn’s CEO David C. King will participate in a group dialogue featuring fellow ‘Energy Innovation Pioneers’ working on game-changing technologies in the E&P space.
- Agora Showcase (Agora Exploration Pod on Wednesday, March 7 at 1:30 p.m. CT): King will participate in a 20-25-minute TED talk-style presentation, including interactive conversation with attendees while introducing FogHorn and its technology. Furthermore, King and Dave Koberstein (VP Technical Services) will host demonstrations of the FogHorn platform throughout the afternoon.
The vast amount of data produced by machines in sectors like power and water utilities, oil and gas production, mining, and renewable energy dictate the use of a new, edge-centric computing paradigm. By implementing edge computing to industrial IoT initiatives, businesses will not only minimize bandwidth costs, but also address latency, reliability, security and privacy issues. FogHorn's Lightning™ software platform allows businesses with distributed operations to derive actionable insights as close as possible to geographically dispersed IoT-connected machines, the operations technology control systems, and the sensors attached to those machines.
“In energy industries like oil and gas or renewable power, predictive maintenance at the edge provides real-time actionable insight, which substantially lowers data transfer and storage costs. This not only prevents unnecessary repairs and maximizes effective asset lifetime, but also significantly reduces major failures and downtime,” said David C. King, CEO, FogHorn Systems. “The Energy Innovation Pioneer selection highlights the strides we’ve made as a company to disrupt the edge computing and energy space, and we’re honored to be recognized.”
