HAMILTON, Bermuda, Feb. 18, 2016 -- Golden Ocean Group Limited ("Golden Ocean" or the "Company") announced that it has commenced a private placement of its common shares in Norway pursuant to certain exemptions from registration under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the "Securities Act"). The Company expects gross proceeds from the private placement to be approximately $200 million. The Company's largest shareholder, Hemen Holding Limited, currently controlling approximately 43.1% of the shares in the Company, will subscribe for and be allocated at a minimum, its pro rata share in the private placement, amounting to the NOK equivalent of approximately $86.2 million. Other leading shareholders in the Company have also indicated support for subscribing to at least their pro rata share in the private placement.
