It’s always sad when a show that a lot of people love gets canceled, but at least “Glitch” Season 3 is still coming. Most other axed TV series never even get another chance to properly say goodbye to viewers for closure. In the case of this zombie TV sci-fi horror, at least fans will have a few more episodes to enjoy before watching it all end for the last time.
As Inquistr notes, this Australian TV show has become quite the sleep hit on Netflix, attracting a horde of fans who absolutely want to devour all the content that it produces. This is why the announcement for “Glitch” Season 3 is such a happy and yet disappointing moment for fans. Filming is underway, which means more episodes, but they will be the last episodes of the show.
Whereas the first season of the show dealt with the characters coping with the dead coming back to life in non-traditional zombie fashion, season 2 was intended to stabilize the narrative a bit. Unfortunately, this resulted in rather bland reviews, which “Glitch” Season 3 was meant to fix. It’s just too bad that it might now be too late for that.
In any case, the press release provided some details on what is currently going on with “Glitch” Season 3. It would appear that filming is already underway and is taking place in Melbourne, Australia. Both co-creators Tony Ayres and Louise Fox expressed gratitude that they will at least be able to finish the story they started. This is important because not every showrunner gets such a privilege.
“It’s a pleasure and a privilege to complete the Glitch ride with so many of the great people who we started with. We’re thrilled to finish the story exactly the way we always wanted to,” Fox said.
“Glitch” Season 3 will be airing on ABC at some point in 2019. No precise premiere date has been set as of yet.
