ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 20, 2018 -- Holiday Retirement received the 2nd highest ranking in resident and family satisfaction among the nation’s largest providers of residential communities for seniors by J.D. Power. The study was based on interviews with residents living in senior living communities and with individuals who make decisions on their behalf, such as spouses, siblings, adult children and friends.
The study measured the overall satisfaction across six factors of the resident experience in the following order of importance: caregiver and staff; services and activities; cost given services; rooms, building and grounds; food and beverage; and service setup and new resident orientation. Out of a 1,000-point scale, Holiday measured 792 points, just 10 points from placing first.
The study found that convenient location and quality staff were top reasons for selecting a community.
“At Holiday we try to keep it simple,” said Lilly Donohue, Holiday Retirement’s CEO. “Our customers over the years have told us what they believe are the essential basics of a good retirement, and that they want those quality basics at a modest price. We could do things fancier, but as evidenced by this recognition, we’re on the right path and will continue to get better at providing those good quality basics for the mid-market consumer. Expensive doesn’t always mean better.
“This ranking demonstrates to our residents that they made a good choice. We listen to residents, their families and our employees on an ongoing basis to make certain we offer the best product and service to meet our residents’ needs. It also validates the hard work our local communities do across the country to help older adults live better and age more successfully, while staying independent for as long as possible.”
According to J.D. Power, “This inaugural study defines the performance metrics and behavioral patterns to reach operational capacity in the near term, while identifying critical long-term needs and demands. This is achieved by standardizing performance metrics, identifying resident expectations and behaviors, and creating a clear road map for providers by sharing a clear vision of today’s customer expectations.”
