The year 2018 is about to end and it now appears that Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston will not change their decisions about breaking up their marriage. Recently, reports claimed the actor is spending the holidays all by himself.
The story about Theroux’s “sad” holidays was sparked when he was photographed walking his dog on Christmas day. Radar Online said the actor went on a “sad stroll” somewhere within the Soho area in New York City’s Lower Manhattan neighborhood.
The same report noted that Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston decided to be separated sometime during the 2017 holiday season. But the estranged couple only announced their split a couple of months later.
Theroux married Aniston in 2015 in California. Unfortunately, they announced their separation a day after Valentines’ in 2017. “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” Theroux and Aniston said in a statement (via Just Jared.)
In the same announcement, Theroux and Aniston explained they would have got separated quietly. But they decided to personally address it even before the gossip industry can “speculate and invent” stories about their falling out.
However, it is hard to believe that Justin Theroux or Jennifer Aniston would still be devastated about their separation after a year. Though it was an unfortunate conclusion to their marriage, they both made clear it was an amicable decision.
In a Theroux profile published by the New York Times, the “The District” alum said breaking up with Aniston “was heartbreaking” and he regrets their “friendship would not be the same.” But he appreciated the fact that they closed the chapter of their married life in “the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity.”
On the other hand, Aniston also said in an InStyle interview earlier this year that she is “not heartbroken” while poking fun at rumors of getting a “revenge makeover” to get back at Theroux. With that said, spending Christmas in a much lesser grandiose manner should not necessarily mean Theroux is having a sad holiday.
