CBS's police procedural may have gone through so many changes over the years but Mark Harmon's Leroy Jethro Gibbs has been the primary constant the show has had even up to “NCIS” season 16. Due to the show's longevity, fan speculation about when the series will end has been more common recently, but the show's own star assures fans that there is nothing to worry about.
In an interview with Celebrity Insider, Mark Harmon mentions that fans should not be worried about ideas running out for the show's plot twists and turns. Harmon mentions that the show has never been simply about the cases that the NCIS team encounters, but about how its characters react to the daily lives of the professionals they portray.
Mark Harmon mentions that what he loves about being able to play the character of Jethro Gibbs is the fact that despite the episodic nature of the show, there is still a chance to unravel the depth of the characters. Despite the show being on its 16th season already, Harmon feels that there are still a lot of personal secrets about his own character that can definitely be explored in future stories.
Mark Harmon's enthusiasm for his role of Leroy Gibbs gives fans hope about the show's future beyond “NCIS” season 16. If fans did not already know, Mark Harmon is an executive producer for “NCIS,” which means that as long as he enjoys his role on the show, there is a slim chance that it will get canceled in the near future.
Fans hoping to seeing more of Mark Harmon's Gibbs can catch “NCIS” season 16 when it airs its upcoming Halloween episode during its usual Tuesday broadcast schedule on Oct. 30. Fans can look forward to an episode directed by Rocky Carroll, who plays Director Vance.
