Melania Trump and Donald Trump should have celebrated their 15th year wedding anniversary on Jan. 22 but it appears that both of them did not even mention the occasion. The public wonder why the First Couple did not mark their special day when they could easily do it on social media like they always have.
The First Couple’s anniversary
The two got married on Jan. 22, 2005 but neither of them said something about their anniversary and this made people think that the First Lady totally ignored the day. The public is speculating that the pair may not be on good terms since Melania Trump was supposed to accompany her husband to Davos, Switzerland on the day of their anniversary but she pulled out from the scheduled trip at the last minute.
Express reported that It is strange that the FLOTUS suddenly announced that he will not be joining Donald Trump for the World Economic Forum. Her spokeswoman only said that it was due to “scheduling and logistical issues” but observers are skeptical if this was the real reason.
Did the couple really snub their wedding anniversary?
In Style noted that Melania Trump and her husband may not have intended to let their anniversary past without publicly greeting each other. There are many reasons why they failed to mention the occasion and love quarrel is not one of them.
The publication stated that Donald Trump is very busy and the First Lady has a lot of things to do as well. Moreover, because the U.S. is in the middle of the impeachment government shutdown, the First Couple might have thought that any sort of congratulatory or anniversary greeting will be in poor taste. Besides, with the current situation in the country, the public may just criticize them for mentioning the occasion.
Finally, while Melania Trump and Donald Trump did not acknowledge their wedding anniversary, the White House made sure to celebrate the pair’s special day. It is not exactly a celebration but the state marked the day by uploading a photo of the First Couple as they dance together to live music.
“Happy 15th anniversary, President @realdonaldtrump and @flotus!” the post from the White House reads.
