Mercedes-Benz NXT unveils 1,000 Ethereum-based NFTs, 'Maschine,' in an innovative collaboration with Fingerprints DAO and artist Harm van den Dorpel.

A Dutch auction will be held on June 7 at the Fingerprints DAO website exclusively for the "Maschine" collection. This auction will have a unique format where the item's price is lowered until there is a buyer.

The automotive concept-inspired generative art NFT collection mimics a wheel in motion. , plays on themes of velocity and perception. Each piece showcases a captivating radial pattern of complex and ever-changing illusions inspired by the wagon-wheel effect.

Mercedes-Benz NXT, the car manufacturer's Web3 arm, which focuses on digital collectibles and virtual experiences, plans to release three "core" collections that are designed, developed, and managed by the creative studio 0xNXT.

Maschine is the first of the core collections. The second will only be available to a few chosen Mercedes-Benz top clients, with 1,886 collectibles produced during top client gatherings. With digital artifacts made by the Mercedes-Benz design team, the third core collection will set off on a trip through the company's creative history. Mercedes-Benz plans to include peripheral and satellite projects within its NFT ecosystem.

Van den Dorpel says that Mercedes-Benz's emphasis on innovation and aesthetics relates to his generative art practices and that the blockchain's technical features helped consolidate his art's fluid character in terms of conservation, provenance, and ownership.

According to Luiz Ramalho, Fingerprints DAO founder, working with Mercedez-Benz NXT bridges the gap between emerging digital art and the traditional art world.

Ramalho added that regular people who are mostly unaware of Web3 developments would likely be drawn to a collaboration like theirs.

Fingerprints DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization, has curated a gallery of NFT art selected by a community-elected Curation Committee. Its collection includes several Autoglyphs by Larva Labs, Loot Bags, and other works it says are "inimitable and irreplaceable."
