People recently covered Miranda Lambert's moving performance at the CMA Theater as the 2018 artist-in-residence for Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The concert covered was one of two nights that Miranda Lambert will be gracing the CMA Theater.
The stripped-down acoustic set focused on Miranda Lambert's songs, devoid of any stage acrobatics or theatrics. Lambert was backed by a five-piece acoustic band which, as the publication describes, allowed the songs to take center stage.
At the first night's start, Miranda Lambert gave the audience the heads-up that she was to play songs that usually do not get played live due to their sad nature. The repertoire that the country music hall of famer brought to her set included songs from as early as her career back in 2005. The one-and-a-half-hour set was interspersed with guests joining Miranda Lambert in songs that they had previously worked on with the country musician.
Miranda Lambert shared the stage with her father, Richard Lee Lambert, and fellow country musician Natalie Hemby. Miranda Lambert's Pistol Annies cohort Ashley Monroe also joined the award-winning musician on stage.
Ashley Monroe and Allison Moorer's guest presence drove home the intimate nature of Miranda Lambert's set with songs such as “Me and Your Cigarettes” and “Oklahoma Sky” being inspired – or even partly written – by Blake Shelton.
Miranda Lambert's former husband Blake Shelton's presence was akin to a ghost during the concert, with Lambert reminiscing about the first song she wrote together with her father being a song about cheating. Fans may remember that Miranda Lambert's relationships have had a history of being particularly close to rumors of cheating or ended due to such allegations.
Miranda Lambert's second night as artist-in-residence for the Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is currently sold out.
