Mobile Phones: Things to Consider Before Buying a New Smartphone

Mobile phones today have become a very crucial and integral part of our lives. It is almost impossible to even imagine spending a day without our phones simply because of the pivotal role they play in our daily lives. They help us capture moments, carry out communications, remain connected with people across the globe, document information important to us and so on and so forth.

Thus, a Smartphone helps us become efficient in our work as well as save a whopping amount of time and that is precisely why it is very important to figure out what exactly you majorly use your phone for and then buy a mobile phone based on those priorities because if you were to have a sneak peek into the market for opinions on smartphones, you will find a crazy number of mobile brands flooding your head with suggestions and that will only lead to confusion and indecisiveness.

Besides your priorities, here is a list of features that you should sincerely consider before buying your new Smartphone.

Camera –

We are all obsessed with taking pictures for cherishing moments even after the moment is long gone, for maintaining our social media platforms and for many other reasons.

So the camera quality is a feature that we absolutely refrain on compromising. Thus it is suggested that a regular user can opt for anything with 8MP or 12MP camera with f/2.0-f/2.2 aperture while a photography enthusiast should opt for a smart phone with 12MP or 16MP camera with f/2.0 or lower aperture.

It is a common misconception that higher megapixels equate to better camera quality though it is factors such as autofocus, aperture and ISO levels that play a very important role in determining the camera quality.

Processor –

This feature depends on how extensively you use your phone and for what purposes because the processor is what determines the performance of the phone.

If you are a tech geek who is into heavy apps, streaming videos and into editing and similar things, a Qualcomm processor should easily help you multitask but if you are an average or light user, a MediaTek processor should serve you just about right.

Memory –

All of us love installing various apps to carry out different day to day functions, from boarding a flight, booking a hotel room, maintaining fitness, learning cooking to even gaining academic knowledge, we have apps for everything but if our phone has less storage it can be a tedious task to maintain storage and might require us to delete files, pictures and apps on a regular basis which is a major put off.

A mobile phone with 64GB internal storage is serving good in the market these days. A light user can definitely go for 32GB internal storage but an average or heavy user should definitely look for variants between 64GB to 128GB of internal storage.

Display –

This era is an era of internet, innovations and the virtual world. Almost everything has shifted online which has glued us to our mobile phones more than ever and so the size of the display of your phone does influence your experience.

If you are into reading online, streaming videos and admiring graphics of various apps, you should look out for a phone with minimum 5.5 inch, full-HD, full HD+ or QHD display. A display only up to 6 inch proves to be user friendly, any length more than that tends to be too large and bulky to be carried.

Battery –

The battery life is a prominent feature when it comes to mobile phones. There is no point of having a mobile phone with extravagant mobile features but a poor battery life cycle. It is not just the mAh that impacts the battery life but a combination of processor, screen resolution, charging techno and the extent of usage etc that determine the battery life of a mobile phone.

An average user can go for a phone with 3500mAh battery taking into consideration other factors but a heavy user should look for nothing below 4000mAh battery for an efficient experience.

Build Quality –

Mobile brands largely offer two different build qualities; Metal build quality and plastic build quality both of which have their sets of pros and cons. For covering up the cons of build quality there are many mobile accessories available for mobile safety and stylish look.

The metal build quality is more durable and can sustain despite falling from 2-3 feet but it is heavier on the other hand. The plastic build is relatively lighter to carry but it is averagely durable and can only sustain a drop from 2 feet or below.

Price vs. performance –

After having considered all feature of the phone it is important to acknowledge whether the handset in consideration is worth the price and this becomes very crucial especially when you have a limited budget.

The market has many mobile brands offering similar features for different rates, it is only rational to compare the price vs. performance ratio of different mobile brands before making the ultimate call.
