BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 20, 2017 -- Mountain America Credit Union is inviting all families to come and enjoy New Year’s Eve celebrations at the heated family tent at the Idaho® Potato Drop. The heated family tent was a new addition last year, and this year the Idaho Potato Drop and Mountain America have partnered to add a special component to help local charities. Free booth spaces within the heated tent are being provided as a courtesy to ten local charities to showcase their services and share how they make a difference within the community.
The celebration will be held at Capitol Park at the Statehouse in downtown Boise. Activities will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Idaho Potato dropping at midnight. A wide variety of events will also be available to enjoy in Capitol Park, from the Toyota Big-Air Rail Jam to the live McCall Winter Carnival ice sculpture pre-show, and the all new “Tuber Luge” public high-speed tube sled luge, built by Gateway Parks Eagle. Grown in Idaho is providing Main Stage entertainment with a talented lineup of regional and local favorites, along with a world-class fireworks display to conclude the celebration.
“The fifth annual Idaho Potato Drop is on pace to be the most fun and exciting edition to date. With world-class music, fireworks, winter games and a true VIP experience, this event has something for everyone. Try out local food and drink or get a picture with Spuddy Buddy in front of the Big Idaho Potato Truck. Take a few laps on the Tuber Luge, or you can sign up and try your skill on the Big-Air Rail Jam!” says Idaho Potato Drop CEO Dylan Cline. “We are grateful for the support of sponsors like Mountain America Credit Union who help keep this event free for everyone to enjoy.”
“Idaho is an amazing place to live, in part because the people within this community truly want to give back and help each other. There’s a genuine spirit of camaraderie,” says Vice President of Branches for Idaho, Tim Toy. “The Idaho Potato Drop is a celebrated community event and a nationally recognized way to usher in the new year. We want everyone to experience and enjoy this unique event. The heated family tent will help even more families enjoy the New Year’s Eve festivities, as well as get to know these local organizations who are doing so many great things in our community.”
