FORT LAUDERDALE/DAVIE, Fla, Dec. 12, 2017 -- On Tuesday, December 5th, during its annual meeting, the Southern Association of Colleges and schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmed Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) regional accreditation for another ten years. NSU was found to be in complete compliance, with no findings or recommendations, the first time in the college’s history.

Every 10 years, the SACSCOC – the accrediting body that governs NSU – performs an exhaustive review of the university in preparation for reaffirmation. The on- site review took place in April 2017 on NSU’s main campus with a team of nine reviewers. The off-site visit, which included the review of the Compliance certification, took place in November, 2016.
“NSU’s faculty and staff do an exemplary job of providing our students with the best possible academic, research and community experiences,” said NSU President Dr. George Hanbury. “This reaffirmation of the university’s accreditation could not have happened without the personal commitment of every one of them. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank them for their dedication.”
As part of the reaffirmation process, NSU submitted a Compliance Certification, a report totaling over 1,000 pages. The Compliance Certification covered 95+ SACSCOC Principles of accreditation, demonstrating NSU’s compliance. In addition, NSU developed a comprehensive Quality Enhancement (QEP), which is an integral component of the process. Developing a QEP is an opportunity and an impetus for an institution to enhance its overall quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue or issues the institution considers important to improve student learning.
“This validation by SACSCOC -- in academics, research, and community involvement -- comes as we are at home stretch in achieving NSU’s Vision 2020, and reaching our combined philanthropic and research fundraising goals of $550 million by 2020,” said President Dr. George Hanbury. “That makes it even more of a milestone.”
