“Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 won’t be coming out anytime soon but the production of it is well underway. The previous installment saw the death of Kiki (Michael Pena), the tragedy that sparked what’s been called Operation Leyenda.
Although showrunner Eric Newman is keeping a tight lid on the plotline of “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2, it isn’t difficult to find out what will happen on the web. After all, the series is based on real events that occurred in the 1980s and the subsequent years that followed. The producers of the show have even brought in agent James Kuykendall – the real operative and commanding officer of Kiki – as a consultant to make sure that the story doesn’t veer far from the truth.
Kuykendall already revealed that Walt (Scoot McNairy) isn’t a real agent and is probably the amalgamation of several operatives that were sent to Mexico to avenge Kiki. The DEA agent also said that through the course of Operation Leyenda, the leadership of the manhunt changed several times. While this isn’t a confirmation, it could be that Walt might get killed in “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 or perhaps in the future installments.
This is pure speculation, of course. But it’s not unreasonable to assume that Walt will die given that he is a fictional lead character – the very first for the franchise. There’s also the fact that “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will increase the violence portrayed in the series similar to what happened after Kiki was killed.
On the operation itself, it’s still unclear whether or not Felix (Diego Luna) will be captured in “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2. If he does, then the third installment will probably have El Chapo (Alejandro Edda) as its main villain.
Fans of the franchise already met Chapo as he’s the henchman that Felix spared and eventually became one of the most loyal gunmen of the cartel. There’s also the chance that “Narcos: Mexico” Season 2 will have Rafa (Tenoch Huerta) escape from prison as he’s still at large to this day. As for when the second installment will air, Netflix has yet to announce anything since the production is still on its early stages.
