Nintendo Switch gamers will soon have two more games to choose from. If recent reports are to be believed, Nintendo might be planning to port two more titles from its other console, the Wii U.
Nintendo Insider Emily Rogers claimed that aside from games that were already confirmed for porting such as Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, two more games from Wii U’s stable will be crossing over to the Nintendo Switch, according to Digital Trends. The publication said that Rogers is a reliable source as she was able to accurately report the Switch’s unveiling back in October 2016.
Unfortunately, Rogers did not specify which titles might be ported soon. But she added that’s it's probably easy to figure them out.
“My only concern about 2020 is that Nintendo might lean a little too hard on re-releases of older stuff as a crutch to fill out their calendar,” Rogers posted on Resetera. “Nintendo has already officially announced Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Xenoblade Chronicles 1 remaster/remake for this year. I can also confirm that Nintendo has (at least) two more unannounced Wii U ports. They are not difficult to guess because there aren't many Wii U games left to port.”
According to TechRadar, the likely titles to be ported are the two Zelda remasters “Twilight Princess” and “Wind Waker,” “Super Mario 3D World,” “Wonderful 101,” and “Star Fox Zero.” Meanwhile, Digital Trends added the “Pikmin 3” as a possible candidate for porting as well.
The move to port more games from Wii U should be surprising to gamers since Nintendo had successfully ported a number of titles in the past. While the Wii U is not as massive commercial success, it had a lot of great titles in its roster of games.
It would simply be a waste for these games to remain in the console when they could be enjoyed by more players in the popular Switch console. For instance, Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe became very successful when they were ported to the Switch.
With its portability option, Nintendo Switch enjoyed massive commercial success when it was released in 2017. It is considered an eighth-generation console and is a competitor of Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.
