With the OnePlus 11 generation expected to release soon, a new report surfaced claiming to have an official image that shows some significant design changes in the works. The company is also expected to implement a few tweaks in how the device will be called once it launches.
Renders with the alleged design for the OnePlus 11 Pro were leaked several months ago, courtesy of prolific smartphone tipster OnLeaks. New details about the upcoming flagship phone emerged this week from the same source (via GadgetGang) with a clarification.
When the first leaks came out, the device was referred to as the OnePlus 11 Pro. But the new report now claims that the company plans on dropping the “Pro” branding and would simply call it “OnePlus 11.” The name change makes sense, considering that the brand only released one flagship model last year that it called OnePlus 10 Pro.
As for the design, the press release image shows no difference from the leaked renders earlier this year. This further suggests that the OnePlus 11 will launch with a redesigned camera bump. The company is expected to let go of the rectangular camera bump with a circular design.
The company, however, will retain a seamless integration of the glossy metal edge with the camera bump of the OnePlus 11. This may remind tech fans of Samsung’s Contour Cut design for the Galaxy S21 series.
OnePlus 11’s Hasselblad marking is also moved from the edge of the camera bump to the center. The triple camera module is expected to include a 50MP primary sensor, 48MP ultrawide-angle lens, and 32MP telephoto camera with 2x zoom. This suggests a significant upgrade in the telephoto department, noting that the OnePlus 10 Pro only came with an 8MP lens.
However, the OnePlus 11’s selfie camera is quite a downgrade in terms of pixel count. Its predecessor shipped with a 32MP front-facing sensor, but the upcoming device will reportedly feature a 16MP camera.
The company will retain a 6.7-inch display and up to 16GB RAM configuration for the OnePlus 11. While the battery will remain at 5000mAh, the report says it will support up to 100W fast charging. And unsurprisingly, the device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
If the company follows a familiar launch schedule for its flagship offering, the OnePlus 11 could be unveiled in early 2023.
