“Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will have Tommy (Cillian Murphy) deal with a new breed of villains as Sam Claflin will present a different stage of play for the titular main character. While Tommy has been portrayed as someone who can go toe to toe with rival gangs, he has yet to clash with an individual within the political realm.
Shadow games, blackmail, and underhanded maneuvers will surely be employed by this new antagonist to cripple the growing reputation of Tommy as an MP. The villain has been announced as someone who will play a large part in how the future will shape for Tommy and Britain itself. Aside from the politician, the Shelby group will also be dealing with another rival gang in “Peaky Blinders” Season 5.
These new scoundrels will come down from Glasgow to Birmingham in an attempt to expand their own influence in the criminal world. Show creator Steven Knight said that the group is inspired by a real gang that emerged in the 1920s. Known as the Billy Boys, the gang is one of the most notorious crime group in British history as their militaristic style of behavior allowed them to be organized and efficient. If their TV adaptation is anything close to the real-life version, then “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 could see quite the showdown between the Billy Boys and the Shelby family.
Aside from the main group, however, the Billy Boys also formed a junior sect of sorts composed of teenagers called the Derry Boys. Their combined number is said to have reached 800 strong at their peak. With a militaristic approach, the gang grew in infamy across Glasgow and its neighboring areas. It’s still unclear how accurate “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will portray the Billy Boys and if their horrific actions will be portrayed in the series.
With politics on one side, rival gangs on the other, and a myriad of other complications surrounding Tommy, the Shelby leader will surely have his hands full this fifth installment. As for when “Peaky Blinders” Season 5 will be released, it’s being speculated that it will drop on the late spring of 2019.
