PENSACOLA, Fla., Jan. 09, 2018 -- DigitalTown, Inc. (OTC:DGTW) announced today the official launch of Pensacola.city. The shared-ownership co-operative is an innovative platform that provides residents and visitors with a means to actively improve local quality of life as they search, connect, share and shop within their community via web and mobile applications.
Starting today, residents are able to claim their free CityShares -- essentially co-ownership stakes in the Pensacola city platform. The number of CityShares is limited to 10 shares for each resident of Pensacola. The free CityShare claim period is scheduled to end on January 31, 2018. Additional unclaimed CityShares are available for purchase at a discounted rate while they last. From February 1, 2018, the Pensacola CityShares will be free trading to buy and sell.
Rob Monster, CEO of DigitalTown commented on the announcement, explaining “AirBnB and Uber have shown the world the power of the Sharing Economy to tap the productive capacity of individual citizens in a community. Blockchain, and in particular Bitcoin, has shown the world the power of distributed ledgers as an efficient medium of exchange. With Pensacola.city we are making it easier than ever for residents to play a role in the economic and social health of their community.”
From beaches to the Blue Angels, and with a style of its own, Pensacola has much to offer to residents and visitors. Today, with the introduction of Pensacola.city, local residents now have their very own Google, Expedia, AirBnB, OpenTable, PayPal and Bitcoin – all in one digital destination branded in the identity of Pensacola. Best of all, Pensacola.city is to be co-owned by the citizens through the distribution and sale of blockchain-based CityShares.
Pensacola merchants can sign up and benefit from a free storefront. There are no setup fees, no service fees, nor a requirement to be tethered to a conventional bank account or merchant account. Merchants of all sizes pay a low commission on sales with the option of redeeming proceeds from major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Terry Bryan, a Pensacola resident and citizen investor in Pensacola.city added “The DigitalTown cooperative platform is truly exciting as it helps local businesses to keep revenue local instead of losing out to the big-box retailers, such as Amazon. As a long-time resident of Pensacola, I believe in the power of citizen leadership to shape the digital future and look forward to a productive partnership with fellow stakeholders in the future of Pensacola.”
To claim your CityShare, residents of the Pensacola metropolitan area should visit Pensacola.city/cityshares and complete the free claim sign-up form.
