Poco has more products to unveil in India this year, this much was confirmed by a company executive recently. However, it is still unclear if it is going to be a version of the Poco F2 Pro for the region or the mystery Poco M2 Pro that appeared in several leaks.
Poco fans in India have something to look forward to in July
The smartphone brand opened the year with many promises, and that is a good thing considering the company did not have any product announcements throughout 2019. Poco India’s independence from Xiaomi was announced and was followed by the release of Poco X2 in the region. Then last month, the much-awaited Poco F2 Pro finally arrived but only available in Europe and other regions, except India.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Poco India general manager C Manmohan confirmed the speculations that they another smartphone to announce. There were not many details revealed, but the report stated the product should be unveiled in the next 20 to 25 days. “We are definitely going to launch a new phone soon… We want to ensure the philosophy we had is brought to different price ranges,” Manmohan said.
Is it Poco F2 for India or the rumored Poco M2 Pro?
Going by Manmohan’s statement, it is very likely that the next smartphone to be announced is a higher-tier device since Poco X2 is advertised and priced as a mid-range smartphone. It is then possible that consumers in India will finally get a version of the Poco F2 for the region.
On the other hand, a mystery smartphone branded as Poco M2 Pro has appeared in several leaks and certification filings. These are pointing to the possibility that this unannounced smartphone is also slated to see the light of day very soon.
The Poco F2 Pro has been billed as a “flagship killer” mainly because it sports the Snapdragon 865 SoC on much lower price point than premium smartphones that sport the same processor like the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Meanwhile, the M2 Pro has been speculated as a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro, which is powered by Snapdragon 720G. In comparison, the Poco X2 runs on a slightly better component with Snapdragon 730G.
